ECONOMICAL ENVIRONMENT

150-180 thousand students take on casual work a year in general and three-quarters of them are employed by School cooperatives, by which this sector has a 10-12 billion forint turnover. Full time students are employed by work contract, guaranteed by harmless, healthy work environment and work safety. We also deduct and pay the regulated tax to the state.

 FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE

The college or university student's employment within student cooperatives is such an exceptional form of employment which has been supported for more than 25 years by the state. The aim of the student cooperatives and the state is to bridge over the difficulties of studying and working together.

Our cooperative's task is to work out the undertaken work, accurately, perfectly and cost effectively.

By the effect of the state's role-taking the application of student cooperative is significantly cheaper (with 30-50%) than the 'normal' adult employment. In this way where the cooperative role-taking can be conceivable, remarkable cost saving can be achieved.

 SOCIAL ROLE

As a reason of the Hungarian economical system, the household's poor savings and the social situation, it is crucial for 75-80% of the families that the university or college students undertake work besides their studies.

The introduction of tuition fee and the remarkable increase of study related expenses (accommodation-student hostels, rents, schoolbooks etc.) make students roles necessary in bearing the family's costs. The most obvious way of doing this is working, which can be done by the regulated circumstances of School cooperative. The income earned here provides a social net for several regular students and it also gives the opportunity for continuing studies.

 PUBLIC RESPONSIBILITY

The School cooperatives (student cooperatives) have been working in Hungary for more than 25 years. They have been playing an important social role in the society. Their traditions and functions are significant on the Hungarian employment market. Similar cooperatives have been working within the EU as well but their sizes and roles are remarkably smaller.

By the help of Student cooperative's employment the youngsters,' the college, university and secondary school students' first meeting of the work regulations and their features are more controlled,. Their future law-abiding behaviour is formed by the first impressions and experience of employment. When at their first work contact the youngsters can acquire the commitment of employment and the obligations of tax payment, legal employment, they are less likely to go into illegal work in the future. Furthermore they can gain suitable work experience and the necessary safeguarding of workers' interest for their first "adult job".

The appropriate responsibility and the value of the earned money can be formed in this time of age. It often happens among youngsters that the money given to them is easy to spend and the value of money is only appreciated by the difficulty of earning it.

The movement of School cooperatives (student cooperatives) has been recognized by the state and therefore they provide the support of this type of employment. It looks clear that the main occupation of the regular university or college students are their studies and work takes only the second place. As a consequence of this the employer has a more difficult job with employing these youngsters, but this difficulty is solved by the School cooperative and the supportive role of the state.
