FROM WHAT AGE CAN I HIRE STUDENTS?
- At the age of 15 students are permitted to work in the summer break with parental permission. From the age of 16 they can work during the schoolyear as well. Parental permission is obligatory until the age of 18.
WHO CAN I ASK IN CASE I NEED STUDENT WORKERS?
- You can turn to student job agencies (Student Cooperative) with your workforce demand who are providing you their student members of the expected quality and in the number needed.
HOW CAN STUDENTS WORK ON WEEKDAYS DURING SCHOOLYEAR?
- Students can undertake flexible work schedules fitting their classes. For example if you need the workforce of two in 8‑8 hours during the weekdays then a student team of four or five would do the job. This way you are working with the same team of students and replacing a worker is easily solvable.
IN WHAT FORM IS STUDENT WORK LEGAL?
- Students can start working after signing a membership contract with a student employment agency and being registered to the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary.
WHAT KIND OF FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE DOES STUDENT WORKFORCE HAS?
- Working with members of a student cooperative or student job agency means being exempted from any social taxes, fees of workers´ holidays or sick leaves and extra cost of working on national holidays.
AM I ENTITLED TO THESE REDUCTIONS IN CASE I’M ALREADY EMPLOYING STUDENTS?
- Advantages and reductions mentioned above are only relevant in case of employing members of student employment agencies. Employing someone through a student employment agency comes with many advantages even if you already know who you wish to work with.
ARE THESE REDUCTIONS RELEVANT IN CASE OF EMPLOYING PART‑TIME STUDENTS?
- The reductions are only relevant in the case of students participating in full‑time training with an active or passive student status.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE THE EMPLOYEE FOR THE POSITION?
- You can either offer an employee that you wish to work with or choose someone who matches work expectations the best from our members recruited for the position.
5. DO I HAVE TO PROVIDE THE SAME WAGES TO MY STUDENT AND FULL‑TIME EMPLOYEES?
- You can but you are not obligated due to the lack of practice, too. Even if you decide to provide the same wages, employer’s cost can be 30-40 % lower than with average employment types.
WHAT KIND OF TASKS CAN I HIRE STUDENTS FOR?
- It can be an uncomplicated trained job or any position with the expectation of specification and certain skills but not experience.
WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?
- Usually students with relevant studies specialized in a given subject participate in internship programs and work in such professional fields like IT, logistics, HR, finances, sales, etc. We also provide student workforce for internship positions with complete administration and payroll calculation.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE FRINGE BENEFITS (VOUCHERS, MEAL‑TICKETS, ETC.) TO STUDENTS?
- Yes, it is. It is worth noting though that hiring students for a task does not equals regular employment so fringe benefits are accounted with the highest tax content.
CAN A STUDENT BE A FULL‑TIME CO‑WORKER?
- Yes, but students’ most important task is studying. They usually cannot undertake five days in a week in eight hours every day on a long term. We recommend you to employ students in part‑time schedule or for seasonal tasks and projects.
